Also, if you have any old software that is still installed and no longer serves a purpose, like the software for a printer or scanner that you no longer have, you should uninstall it. That will free up much more space and will make that little progress bar start moving a little quicker.

Viruses and spy ware can also slow down your PC. There are many different anti-virus, anti-spy ware, and firewall programs available. You might have some of these on your computer already. If so, you should ensure to run them on a regular basis. Anti-virus programs should be run minimum once a week, specially if you spend a lot of time online.
